Makita Planers
Ever since carpenters have discovered the importance of the planer, this tool has played a pivotal role in making quality and accurate structures out of wood. The first idea of the planer came about in the 1700s and has continued to evolve over the years from manual planes to electronically portable planers.
There are several companies who now manufacture modern woodworking tools. One such company is the Makita Company. This Japanese company has been around since 1915 and have years of experience in producing woodwork tools such as the Makita planers, Makita planer saw, the Makita planer table and the Makita portable planer. This portable planer comes with industry standard double sided carbride mini blades that are disposable and quite easy to change.
A Planer is used to reduce the thickness of wood. This is done by placing the planer on a planer table where one side has an in feed while the other side has an out feed. The wood is passed through the intake where thin slices of the wood are shaven off. The wood then comes through the out feed smooth and ready to be used in production. Portable planers will come in different sizes; from small ones to heavy duty special purpose ones. They are usually powered by electricity and are usually used for smaller projects.
The planer saw is usually the first tool used by the modern carpenter. It is used to cut through the rough, crude wood which is then passed through the planer to smooth the wood. A carpenter must be careful when handling the planer saw as lack of care can lead to loss of limb. Always unplug the saw when changing blades and other accessories. Make sure that the switch is off before plugging in the saw, and always wear proper eye gear to protect the eyes.
